Presenters in the webinar room can share a window from their computer with attendees. Screensharing broadcasts the selected window in the live room so attendees can see the content you are presenting in real time.

When to use screensharing

Screensharing is best used when you want attendees to follow along as you present content directly from your computer.

Use screensharing to:

  • Demonstrate software or workflows
  • Walk through dashboards or reports
  • Show your website or sales page

Screenshare broadcasts the visual content from your screen so attendees can see what you are presenting in real time. Because it focuses on broadcasting what appears on your screen, audio from videos or other media playing on your computer will not be transmitted during screensharing.

If you plan to play a video with sound, upload the video and use Video Injection instead.

Start screensharing

  1. Click the screenshare icon at the top of your presenter video feed in the live room.
    Turn screenshare on
  2. Select the window you want to share.
  3. Confirm the selection to begin broadcasting the content of your chosen window.
Important: If you play a video while sharing your screen, attendees will not hear the video’s audio. To play videos with audio during your webinar, use video injections instead. Learn how to add video injections to your live webinar.

Best practices for screensharing

Follow these guidelines for the best viewing experience:

  • Share a single window, not your entire screen, to avoid an "infinity mirror" effect.
  • Keep the shared window maximized. Minimizing the window hides the content from attendees.
  • Use video injections to play videos or media with sound so attendees can hear the audio.
  • Test screen sharing before the webinar to ensure your browser and operating system permissions allow sharing. The exact steps will vary depending on your device and operating system.

Browser or operating system updates may reset permissions, so it is recommended to check screen sharing when testing your webinar before going live.

Broadcasting from a mobile device

Screen sharing and the whiteboard feature are not available for presenters using mobile devices.

For the best experience, presenters should join the webinar room from a desktop or laptop computer.
