Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security system that requires you to provide multiple, distinct forms of identification in order to access something.

In addition to your email address and password, WebinarJam requires a time-limited passcode to login to your account. You can choose whether the passcode is sent to your email or generated by an authenticator app on your mobile phone.

MFA by email is turned on in the WebinarJam profile

Email MFA is turned on by default for your account. You can add an authentication app as an additional factor and keep both active or enable the mobile app and turn off email authentication.

Choose either method, but you must have at least one active.

Enable mobile app authentication

How does mobile app MFA work? With mobile app authentication turned on, you will be asked to enter a one-time code to finish logged in to your account. The code is generated by an app on your mobile phone that is linked during the setup process – open the app to get a new code each time you log in.

  1. Go to your account Profile
  2. Click Enable mobile app
    • Enter your current password in the pop-up window and click Log out to log out of WebinarJam

On the WebinarJam login screen:

  1. Enter your account email address and your password
  2. Click Continue

The next few screens take you through enrolling in multi-factor authentication.

If you do not have an authenticator app on your mobile phone, stop here and install one before continuing. Learn how to find and Install an authentication app.

  1. Open the authenticator app on your phone and use it to scan the QR code
    • If you're not sure how to add an entry to your app, look for a plus icon or similar in the interface. Choose the option to scan or add by QR code. The following example shows this in the Google Authenticator app:

  2. Copy the six-digit code generated by the app and paste it into the WebinarJam login screen in the one-time code field
  3. Click Continue

Trouble Scanning?

Click Trouble Scanning? in the WebinarJam login screen if you are unable to use the QR code.

  1. Copy the enrollment code on the next screen and manually enter it into your authenticator to complete the setup.
    • Depending on your app, this may be called a setup code, setup key, or similar. Look for an option to create an entry in the authenticator manually.
  2. Click Continue

Save your recovery code

  1. Copy the recovery code from the final screen and save it somewhere safe. You can use this code to log in if you lose your device or lose access to the authenticator app in some other way.
    • Important: The recovery code will not be sent to your email or delivered in any other way. You must copy it from this screen to save it.
  2. Tick I have safely recorded this code to confirm your action
  3. Click Continue to complete the setup and access your WebinarJam account
