Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security system that requires you to provide multiple, distinct forms of identification in order to access something.
A time-limited passcode generated by an authenticator app on your phone is one method available to help secure your account. Learn about enabling mobile app MFA.
If you have a multi-factor login with other websites or platforms, you may already have an authenticator app on your mobile device. Examples include services Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, and similar.
If you do not already have a preferred authentication app, you can download one from your phone’s official app store to use it with WebinarJam.
Select an authenticator from a reputable source. The app plays an important role in your account’s security and should be chosen with care. You can use any TOTP (time-based one-time passwords) authentication application.
On your phone, open the app store (such as Apple App Store or Google Play):
- Search for “Authenticator”
- Install the app of your choice on your mobile phone
- Follow the prompts in the app to complete any necessary setup
Read Multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup guide to learn how to enable mobile app MFA and link the authenticator app to your WebinarJam account.
How an authenticator app helps improve account security
An authenticator app helps keep your accounts secure by adding an extra step to the login process. It generates unique codes that change frequently. When you log in, you enter this code along with your password.
This means that even if someone gets your password, they can't log in without the code from your phone. Because the code changes constantly and is only available in the app connected to your account, it makes it much harder for anyone else to gain access. The extra step makes your account much more secure.
A single authenticator app can generate login codes for many different services and software.
