Applies to: WebinarJam

Test your webinar before going live to confirm that registration, email notifications, room settings, presenter access, attendee experience, and replay all work as expected.

Two types of testing are recommended:

  • Soft test: A quick, low-performance test of the webinar room and controls
  • Cloned live test: A full live test of your webinar experience using a cloned event

Use both methods before promoting your event to a live audience.

Choose the right test type

Soft test

Run a soft test when you want to:

  • Confirm that your webinar setup is complete
  • Practice entering the live room
  • Test audio and video settings
  • Get familiar with room controls and features

This is a low-performance test environment. It is useful for setup checks and training, but it should not be used to host a live audience.

Because WebinarJam does not allocate full resources to a soft test:

  • Streaming quality will be lower
  • Analytics and engagement data are not saved
  • Chat history, poll results, and replay playback are not preserved

Cloned live test

Use a cloned webinar when you want to test the full webinar experience in live conditions.

A cloned test is the best way to verify:

  • Registration and confirmation flow
  • Notification emails
  • Presenter and attendee experience
  • Chat, polls, offers, and other injections
  • Replay behavior
  • Analytics and sales tracking

Run a soft test

To launch a soft test:

  1. Go to Webinars
  2. Click Run a test
  3. Use the attendee or presenter links to enter the room

Run a test webinar feature

When presenters enter the room, they will be prompted to check their audio and video settings.

In the test room, review any settings or tools you plan to use during the live webinar, such as:

  • Going live
  • Room settings and customization
  • Presenter permissions
  • Injections such as polls or product offers
  • Screen sharing and whiteboard tools

Browse the room and test the features you plan to use so presenters know where everything is before the live event.

Important:

Test attendee and presenter links reset each time you click Run a test. If you start a new test, you must share the new links with anyone else participating. Links from a previous test will no longer work.

If the soft test goes well and your webinar setup is final, move on to a cloned live test.

Run a cloned live test

A cloned webinar allows you to test the exact event you plan to run, using real registration and webinar flows.

To start:

  1. Go to Webinars
  2. Clone your event
  3. Click Your links to get attendee, presenter, or moderator links

Run a clone as a live event

Use the cloned webinar to test the full experience from registration through replay.

Test registration and emails

Use the attendee registration link from the cloned webinar to test the registration flow.

Check the following:

  • The registration page layout, messaging, and form fields
  • The confirmation page after registration
  • Any survey configured after registration
  • The confirmation email and access link sent to the registrant

To do this:

  1. Open the attendee registration link from Your links > Attendees
  2. Review the registration page
  3. Register with a valid email address
  4. Review the confirmation page
  5. Submit the survey, if one is configured
  6. Check your inbox for the confirmation email

Test as presenter

Use the presenter link to enter the webinar room and verify the presenter experience.

Check the following:

  • Audio and video setup
  • Broadcast playback
  • Presenter permissions
  • Chat and messaging tools
  • Injections such as polls, offers, or handouts
  • Screen sharing, whiteboard, and other room controls

To do this:

  1. Use the presenter link to enter the room
  2. Complete the audio and video check
  3. Click Go Live
  4. Test the room controls and settings you plan to use
  5. Deploy each configured injection
  6. Test the panic button

If you plan to use the Control Panel with a moderator, use the unique moderator link during the live test as well.

Pro tip

Have another person join as an attendee so you can test live interaction from both sides.

Test as attendee

Use the webinar as an attendee to confirm what participants will actually see and do.

Check the following:

  • Countdown page access
  • Broadcast playback
  • Chat and Q&A
  • Polls, offers, and other injections
  • Purchase flow, if an offer is configured

If you are testing alone, join as an attendee in a separate browser or private window so each role has a unique session.

To do this:

Use the attendee access link from the confirmation email

  1. Go to the countdown page when the webinar is scheduled to begin
  2. Enter the room and start watching the broadcast
  3. Send chat messages and submit questions
  4. Interact with all configured injections
  5. Complete a test purchase if an offer is enabled

Test the replay

If replay is enabled, test both replay access and replay-related notifications.

Check the following:

  1. The post-webinar replay email
  2. The direct replay access link
  3. The replay room experience
  4. The replay question box, if enabled

To do this:

  1. Check your inbox for the post-webinar follow-up email
  2. Open the replay link
  3. Review the replay page and playback
  4. Submit a test question, if that feature is enabled

Additional testing tips

In addition to the core webinar flow, test any extra tools or integrations connected to your event.

For example:

  • Test every Zap if your webinar uses Zapier.
  • Test all rules if you use a custom SMTP, autoresponder, or automation workflow
  • If you are using one-click registration, test the sign-up flow by registering through an email sent from your auto-responder.
  • If a product offer is configured to appear in the webinar, test the purchase flow and successful sales goal tracking
  • Check the event analytics after your test to see how your activity as an attendee was recorded

It’s a good idea to create your own testing checklist based on your setup, especially if your webinar includes custom integrations or advanced automation.

The goal is to make sure every attendee has a smooth experience from registration to replay.
