Applies to: EverWebinar
To choose how attendees interact during your automated webinar:
Edit your webinar and go to the Live tab.
Click Live Chat Box.
Choose one of the following options:
Disable chat: Turn off chat during the webinar.
Enable live chat: Display a simulated chat flow. You can add chat lines manually or import them from a CSV file.
Display a question box: Let attendees submit questions that are forwarded to your email.
The available settings depend on the mode you select. Follow the relevant section below to configure live chat or the question box.
Enable and configure live chat
To enable live chat and add chat lines manually:
Edit your webinar.
Go to the Live tab.
Click Live Chat Box.
Select Enable live chat.
Enter the details for the chat line:
Time: When the message should appear during the webinar.
Name: The name of the attendee or presenter.
Role: Choose Attendee or Admin.
Chat type: Choose Chat, Question, Highlighted message, or Tip.
Highlighted messages and Tips can be added only for admins. Attendees can't use these chat types.
Chat line: Enter the message you want to display.
Click Add to add the chat line.
Note: Manually added chat lines are added to the existing chat flow. If you've imported a CSV file, adding lines manually won't overwrite or remove the imported messages.
To import chat lines from a CSV file, see Import chat messages for EverWebinar using a CSV file.
Delete chat lines
To remove chat lines in bulk, click Delete chat lines at the bottom of the section. Choose whether to delete all chat lines or only the lines currently displayed on the screen.
Manage attendee chat
When live chat is enabled, you can configure how attendees interact and how their comments are handled.
Allow attendees to see each other's chat
Enable this option to let attendees in the same webinar room see each other's messages.
This is useful when you want to encourage interaction among attendees. However, it's recommended that you monitor the chat in real time to keep conversations appropriate.
Save real comments from attendees
Enable this option to save chat messages posted by real attendees in your database. You can then review these messages and incorporate them into your simulated chat flow if you wish.
Saved comments appear under Log > Pending chat in your webinar dashboard.
Send email notifications for pending chat messages
Enable this option to receive daily email notifications when new chat messages are waiting for moderation. Notifications are sent to your account's email address.
Disable this option if you prefer to review pending messages manually without receiving email reminders.
Display a question box instead of live chat
If you'd rather collect questions than display a live chat, select the question box option instead.
With this setup, attendees can submit questions, which are forwarded to your email. You can also control whether you receive email notifications for new questions.
To stop receiving these notifications, turn off Send email notifications for new questions. You can then check questions manually instead.
